Door Supervisor Training

 

Generaly the door supervisor training is the most popular training course out of all SIA linked security qualifications. The duration of the course is usually three or four days, what ever the duration of the door supervisor training may be the compliance requirements as per SIA guide lines are required to be met. The examination pattern is all multiple choice questions and plus a physical intervention module. The course is designed at level 2 as per UK qualifications which means it is a basic entry level qualifications any one haveing the ability to read , write and understand english should not face any problems to qualify.

 

The benifit the door supervisor training gives is that once you have successfully completed the training you can apply for an SIA door supervisor license and you do not need to apply for a seperate security guarding license meaning by that a door supervisor can work as a security guard as well as a door supervisor.

 

The door supervisor is employed in venues which are governed by the licensing act 2003, which include night clubs, pubs, regulated entertainment etc. The door supervisor training includes of following modules

 

Working in the private security industry

 

This module gives a basic idea about the security industry and its outlook

 

Working as a door supervisor

 

This is the specialist module for the door supervisor course which focuses on the specific jobs that a door supervisor is supposed to perform

 

Conflict managemnt

 

Since security operatives are supposed to deal with the general public and they are the first point of contact are likely to meet conflict situations which they might be expected to diffuse

 

Physical Intervention

 

This module is designed to train the learner with approved techniques that he or she might use inorder to deal with a trouble maker

Who Needs the Licence

A Door Supervisor licence is required if manned guarding activities are undertaken in relation to licensed premises*, except where the activity only involves the use of CCTV equipment or falls within the definition of cash and valuables in transit or close protection. A Door Supervisor licence is required if you are performing this activity on behalf of yourself or your employer or your services are supplied for the purposes of or in connection with any contract to a consumer.

*'in relation to licensed premises' means when those premises are open to the public, at times when alcohol is being supplied for consumption, or regulated entertainment is being provided, on the premises.
